Privacy Policy
Dreams are among the most personal things a person can write down. This document is written to be read, not to be survived.
What we store
- Account — email, a hashed password, display name, username, and anything optional you add (photo, bio, city, country, interests).
- Dreams — the text, date, type, intensity, lucidity, tags, your private notes, and any audio or images you attach.
- Activity — reactions, comments, follows, saved dreams, collections, notifications, reports you file, and users you block.
Default privacy
Every dream carries its own visibility: private, followers-only, public under your username, or public anonymously. You choose per dream and can change it at any time. Private dreams are visible only to you. They are excluded from the feed, the network, search, similarity matching, and search-engine indexing.
Publishing a dream shares a copy — it never removes it from your own journal.
Anonymous publishing
A dream published anonymously is displayed as “Anonymous Dreamer.” The public interface does not expose the underlying account: not on the dream, not on the profile page, not in the network graph, and not through the API. Attempting to identify an anonymous dreamer is a violation of our guidelines.
Third parties
When AI analysis is enabled in your privacy settings, the text and title of a dream you save is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to extract symbols and write a neutral summary. Your private notes, audio files, images, email, and identity are never sent. You can switch this off, in which case symbol extraction runs entirely on our own server with no external call.
We do not sell your data. We do not use private dreams to train public AI systems, and we will not do so without separate, explicit permission.
Location
Sleeping city and country are optional, and hidden by default. When you switch location sharing on, named dreams may show city and country; anonymous dreams show country at most. A precise location is never published.
Uploads
Uploaded images are re-encoded on receipt, which strips EXIF, GPS coordinates, and all other embedded metadata. Audio is stored exactly as recorded so that the original is preserved — do not upload audio containing information you would not want stored.
Your rights
- Download everything we hold, as JSON, from Settings → Account.
- Export your journal as PDF, JSON, CSV, or plain text — never behind a paid plan.
- Delete an individual dream, along with its audio, images and connections, permanently.
- Delete your account, which removes every dream, file, and connection derived from it.
- Opt out of similarity matching without leaving the service.
Search engines
Private, followers-only, and unlisted content sends noindex and is
disallowed in robots.txt. Only pages that are public by your choice are
indexable.
